Project Brief
The PG BISON PROJECT aimed to design a desert oasis near Tankwa Karoo National Park, commissioned by a content creator who utilizes social media revenue to invest in properties. The objective was to create a visually appealing rental space, incorporating a luxurious residence, entertainment areas, and landscaped surroundings. The design focused on the elements of fire, earth, water, and air, emphasizing three distinct water applications. Utilizing the existing Tankwa Karoo Padstal building and considering the arid context, the design showcased PG Bison's products. The completed design offers Instagram-worthy spaces, meeting the needs of location scouts and content creators, providing a cohesive yet diverse experience for potential visitors.
The concept of a desert oasis
An attraction and breakaway area in the otherwise barren landscape of the Karoo desert. Inviting travellers and people to experience an enchanting and serene destination set amidst the vast and arid desert landscape. A space designed and inspired by traditional desert elements, blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Offering an exclusive retreat where guests can experience the beauty of nature, indulge in luxurious amenities, and create unforgettable memories in an oasis of serenity, escape and allure.
Sustainable solutions :
Sustainable water practices included efficient technologies, rainwater harvesting, and improved irrigation. Building design prioritized eco-friendliness with passive strategies, insulation, and natural ventilation. Renewable energy integration featured solar and wind power. Ecosystem-friendly construction minimized impact through strategic site selection and low-impact techniques.
4 Domes for each of the elements
Each dedicated to catering for the human needs such as eating, sleeping, bathing and socializing. In each of these dome spaces these needs are prioritized while relating to the dunes design concept and seamlessly becoming one with the desert surroundings. With inspiration from all four elements, each dome like space celebrates either fire, air, water or earth.
